We all have our little quirks and I guess when it comes to doing the laundry I have my own. I usually do the laundry and change all the sheets, towels, table cloths, household stuff etc. on Tuesday (but I had a project yesterday- revamping some drapes- I'll get pictures later) Hence, I have been doing all the laundry today.

And as I stacked all the shirts and pants to hang, I had to laugh at myself, for my little requirements. (and I warn you they were much worse in high school, I have calmed down a bit- probably cuz I do two peoples laundry plus household stuff now, soon to be more little people's laundry! Yeah!) Without further adieu:

My (self imposed) Rules for putting away our clothes:

1. All clothes must face the same direction.
2. All items must be right side out.
3. All buttons, from top to bottom must be fastened.
4. All clothing must be hung on the same colored hanger. (unity people)
5. Clothing must be hung in color order.
6. Clothing must be hung in its proper place, shirts with shirts, skirts with skirts.
7. If folded, it must be approximately the same size, to stack nicely!!

I can't think of anymore RULES at the second. But as I hang everything up, I reorganize too. Especially Justin's side, as he might have put something away, during the week that is - not quite right.... Ahh, the joys of life. But it makes me happy, and gives a bit of order to an otherwise crazy messy space.

And it makes my life so much prettier! Here are some random pics: (cuz a post is not complete without them!)

What quirks do you guys have? I know you have them... (and, NO this did not begin with pregnancy!!)

You sound like Greg. This is why I almost never put away his clothes. I just can't be bothered with making sure the purple shirts go on purple hangers and are placed in color order, but more power to you for knowing what you want and being willing to do it! (:

I'm sure I have some quirks like that . . . just none come to mind at the moment. (Wait, I do my smileys backwards. Does that count?) (;

I'm actually with you on most of them. Though our hangers are not all matching. I would love to have all wood hangers, so in the meantime, we'll take whatever. Though I refuse to hang my clothes on wire hangers from the dry cleaners, and Chris doesn't care, so he'll hang his on those. (shudder!)

Chris has his own system, so I generally let him take care of his own.

I've started partitioning my closet of more by type of clothes (long sleeve, short sleeve, blazers, cardigans, etc) so it isn't as pretty and color coordinated, but I think it makes it easier to find things.

I am right there with you on almost all of them! I wish my hangers were all the same color. I got a wild hair one day and bought pink and blue ones...You know pink for me, blue for him...I wish I just stuck with white because I sometimes need a few more than him...or vise versa...Now we have crazy white, blue and pink everywhere. And now that I have talked about it, I will probably have to spend the day fixing it tomorrow...Sometimes it doesn't bother me but then when I start thinking about it..I go a little crazy! I do my sheets towels and bath mats on Tues. (and curtains if needed) and clothes Monday and Thursday. I also hang them by color...I love the rainbow it makes! Just wait until the baby is in the mix...the laundry doubles!!! I would love to hear how you clean the kitchen...I bet we have some similar techniques there too.

When I first read this I thought you meant that your hangers had to match the outfit you hung on them (ex: blue shirt=blue hanger). I was glad to find that the hangers just matched each other.

How Funny! I am so much the same. Tyler lets me do what I want but I don't think that he cares much. But unlike you I thinkg that I have gotten worse since I've been married. Oh well!!

I'm so like that. Except I use "wire haaaannngeersss!!" ;)

I don't turn the shirts the same way or anything, but my clothes are def color coordinated and I put my skirts/dresses on the right, capris/pants in the middle, and shirts on the left.
(BTW, I can say how relieved I am that I'm not the only one who does this!)

I'm fairly anal about my laundry as well. It has to be completed in one day, and I don't do loads in between unless there's an emergency (AKA-An up-the-back-out-the-sides BM from my darling baby while wearing an adorable outfit requiring immediate washing). I'm not as quirky about hangers, but I'm exactly the same when it comes to folding. But I have to say the only thing I'm truly anal about is my finances. Joe can't buy a candy bar without me knowing and categorizing it in Quicken. I know exactly where and how every cent we make goes.

I don't go into my kids closet or get things out of there drawers because if I do then I dump everything on the floor and start refolding and hanging everything, even the underwear drawers. My kids and husband put away their own clothes and they know they better remember where they put things so they can quickly find certain items of clothing when I tell them to go put it on. The boys have 7 catagories for hang up clothes and 8 drawers and Sarah has 8 catagories for hang up clothes and 10 drawers for folded clothes, and everything is labeled for them. I don't see it as a problem, but they don't agree so we've come to an agreement that if they can finds things that I tell them to put on I won't look in their closets or dressers, if they can't find something hen I get to go looking for it. I have this issue with all closets, even the pantry.

Hello! I fell into your blog tonight for the first time. To be honest, I am not entirely sure how I landed here!

But, I thought now was the time to chime in. I am an OCD organizer. My obsession is in appearance. Things must be either in a triangular pattern or in descending height order from left to right. Clothes work better on the descending order. Honestly, it does not help me find things faster, but it appeals to my need for the lines.

And, honestly, I do it everywhere. I line up items at work. Our glasses. Shampoo bottles in the shower. I do it in other peoples' houses while we talk. Thankfully, my friends just take things out of my hands and put them back where they want them! Ha!!
