Black and Decker Rapid Roller Review and Giveaway!

21 June 2011

This Giveaway is Now Closed!

My sweet little Lydia is now 4 months old...
(your welcome!)

Busy mother that I am, I am just now starting to decorate her room.  I had a different plan about switching the girls rooms at first but Lydia had a different plan.  She would only sleep on her tummy- so bassinettes were out.  I was having panic attacks every night with worry about her not being on her back, and finally in the end just bought another crib of her own so there would be plenty of clear space- no bumpers and fans on at all times.

About 2 weeks after she was born, we moved around about every piece of furniture that we own to make it all work, and that was about as far as it got.  BUT finally Lydia's room is painted... she won't remember the first 4 months of randomness... right? (Let's be honest, I'm really not concerned even if she does, she is loved and wanted, that is what counts- not wall colors!)

Anywho, for this project, I got to try out Black and Decker's Rapid Roller.  It made super quick work of this project!! Thank Heaven!!  Time savers are essential because with two girls under 2 (and running this blog) I really don't have a lot of extra time.

Before most of the furniture moved to center of room:

Opening up the box. WOW!

Cutting in.  So according to some pictures I have seen of this product, you might be able to avoid cutting in if you use painters tape, BUT I hate painters tape- I never use it.  A good quality (like Purdy) angled 1 1/2 inch brush is all you need.

Justin felt like he should take a picture of me using it... yikes.  I should start putting makeup on when I work on projects... and maybe brush my hair, maybe.

I had to show this image(below), so you can see how the head pivots in different ways. COOL feature!

It also had this cool stand, which reminds me of a bike... don't know why I just mentioned that.

The color is off in this picture, it was 12:00 pm at night... and I really have poor camera skills!

The next day, I did a little decorative painting which I LOVE.  I wasn't quite sure if it would work but I am super happy with it.  I will show you more pictures soon as I actually finish the room.  And more of the process.
Paint color: Martha Stewart Lagoon MSL125

But for now...

Do you all need a new tool? ( I know how you feel!)

I am a few follower to your blog...I am in LOVE with all your posts. I have been working on my little girls play room and this rapid roller would help so much!

D-L June 21, 2011 at 8:08 AM

I would paint the large family room with it. We have Cathedral ceilings that I can't imagine painting the 'old' way!

Unknown June 21, 2011 at 8:12 AM

I think this tool would be AWESOME at getting my living room/entry/stairway done - they all connect and have to be painted the same color. What a chore!

Craftcherry June 21, 2011 at 8:17 AM

I've pinned a bunch of stuff from Remodelaholic onto my boards. I'm not sure I can pick out a favorite!

Sarah June 21, 2011 at 8:21 AM

Maybe with this, my hubby would let us tackle our RED living room! I loved it for years but I'm ready for a change... but it's a big space and very red... but this would help!! :)

we finally have drywall in the basement...not too much longer and then there'll be paint. i would love to have this neat roller to ease the painting pain!

the cape on the corner June 21, 2011 at 8:31 AM

i liked you on fb and have been a happy follower. love the wall color and the free hand you did!

Laree June 21, 2011 at 8:34 AM

Ok, I'll admit I had to do some reasearch to figure out just what this thing is! But I'm VERY interested in trying it out.

So far I've painted 4 rooms of my house (one of them twice now) by myself. It's a LONG process. Not needing to fill my roller every 45 seconds would be a HUGE help!

So I'd start of by painting my master bedroom (which is the only bedroom still in a very sorry state!)

MsTeb June 21, 2011 at 8:36 AM

and I would love to paint my whole downstairs...so sick of the green!

Loui♥ June 21, 2011 at 8:53 AM

My entire house needs repainting..
would start with living room..
then proceed to kitchen and dining areas.. finishing up with three bedrooms, 2 baths and hallways..
with the wonderful Black and Decker Rapid Roller..i could do the entire house in no time flat!!!
would love to be the winner!!
hugs..
Loui♥

I have so many rooms in the house that I need to paint (all builder grade off white). I can totally use this to make it easier.

sayer13 June 21, 2011 at 9:08 AM

Actually, almost my entire home needs to be painted. It's been 13 years since I've painted anything. I would love to give the Black and Decker Rapid Roller a good workout!

Katie R June 21, 2011 at 9:10 AM

we just got a house and I need to paint the living/dining/hallway/stairs. This would be soooo helpful!

Jessica June 21, 2011 at 9:11 AM

I pin your pictures all the time. :) I would use this to paint my toy room and basement, they're the only rooms that are untouched so far. I bet this would be awesome for painting doors, too, I have a lot of those to do. Was it one coat coverage? Also, I love the decorative painting you did.

Hmmmm...what project would I tackle??? Well seeing that my hubby and I are trying to find just the right house to be "our first place", I will have to imagine that there will be plenty of rooms to put this cool tool to use. With it be the kitchen...den...or maybe even possibly a nursery??? Only time will tell!

Deborah in Atlanta June 21, 2011 at 10:33 AM

You are on my blog roll.

My daughter was 5 months old when I finally hung anything on her walls... and my other daughter is 4 1/2 and still has nothing on her walls. No worries, she still happy, but would be happier with colored blank walls. Ha!
