Powder Room Remodel

contributed by The Comforts Of Home

I originally published this post December 10th, but thought there might be readers of Susan's MetamorphosisMonday that might have missed it . We are in the process of remodeling a foreclosure we bought in Aug 09. Here is the powder room makeover.

The powder room is finished! The first picture below is one of my inspiration photos. I borrowed the toile, bead board and the framed prints with pops of reds and golds from this inspiration. To see more of my inspiration photos, click here. OH! And you can click on any picture to enlarge for better detail - except the first one....

The first TWO pictures below are BEFORE shots. This is what the powder room looked like when we bought the house.

Olive green walls, outdoor back porch lights for lighting, the hardwood floors were ruined because of a water leak. The toilet was stained beyond repair. The sink and cabinet had been pried off the wall (hence the water leak) and broken.

All of the following pictures are AFTER. We had new hardwood floors installed. We installed a new pedestal sink and commode from Lowe's.

The sconces we ordered from Overstock.com. The black shades with gold lining are from Lowe's. The blacktoile wallpaper is also from Lowe's - a special order.

The black framed mirror is a vintage mirror we had in our former home in the foyer at one time.

The black striped ticking window valance, I made with less than 1/2 yard of fabric for $10.00.

The three chandelier prints above the commode are by a fellow blogger, Teresa Sheeley. She is a very talented lady! I know some of these prints are still available...and she has matching kitchen towels too! These prints used to hang in my studio at my other home.

A close up of the prints.

The silver container below is a vintage goblet, that I picked up at an antique store for $5. It is the perfect size to set on the sink. The red roses are from my local grocery store.

I love how it turned out!

Welcome Home,

Penny

Wow, this is so beautiful!!!!
I love everything about this redo. The little goblet of flowers is the perfect touch and the chandelier prints are gorgeous.
Congrats on a beautiful space!

Thanks for reposting this lovely powder room. It's perfect (of course, Penny had me at toile)!

That looks fantastic. I love the combination of the toile and the stripes. And the pop of red is great.

I love your "new" bathroom. There is nothing more classic than black & white toile. One of my spare bedrooms is done in black & white and will be getting a little facelift soon, but won't be replacing the black & white!
