Beautifying Concrete Block; Guest

14 July 2010

I thought this was a great tip from A Sign of the Times

A quick trick for making over plain concrete blocks or pavers is SPRAY PAINT!  Who knew!  I was going to get concrete stain, which is pretty expensive and takes quite a bit of time, but I needed to get it done in a hurry.  Sooooo, I tried using spray paint.  It worked GREAT and looks good even close up.
BEFORE:

SPRAY PAINT WITH
A LIGHT COAT:
 AFTER:
Be sure you use light coats.  It creates a "stained" look rather than a painted finish.

Oh Man! That turned out so awesome! I wonder if my husband will let me do that to the concrete blocks of our foundation that peek out from under the siding......hmmmm.

That is awesome! We are going to be putting down pavers for a patio and I have not found the color I really wanted and now I can! thanks so much!

I can't believe I haven't thought of this. Great idea. You know, it would also be so cool to spray paint an ornate design or flourish in a slightly darker shade on each brick. That would look better than even the fancy ones at HD or Lowe's... ;0
