Mr. Postman, Bring me a dream...

08 February 2010

This weekend we took it easy.

We stopped by Redbox and picked up Bright Star.  I had my doubts about this movie.  I am very conservative when it comes to movies.  The trailers looked a bit racy but it was rated PG so I thought I would try it out.  (some people may be scoffing.. sorry it is just the way I am)  Well the verdict?  I really loved it.

THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!! Read at your own risk...

Were any of you a lovesick teenager when Romeo and Juliet (Claire Daines and Leonardo version) came out?  I was, and my little heart was fit to burst with the tragic romance.  Well this movie made me feel the same way and it was absolutely beautiful.

I am going to show you why later today, in my Inspiration Monday post.  But for now, I wanted to show you a Valentine from the movie, I LOVE it, so clever, and so fun.

Isn't that so cute?
What do you think?
Have any of you seen the movie? Love it or Leave it?
What are your thoughts?

I have never even heard of that movie but will have to check it out. Larry & I were just married when that movie came out. I remember Larry's college room mate took his English class to see the film and he loved it. So I was able to talk Larry into renting it. I am such a huge fan of Claire Danes. Definitely a tear jerker even though you know what is going to happen. But that sill didn't stop me from yelling at Romeo to not drink the poison.

I'd never heard of the movie until I was in the movie rental store looking for something to rent. The preview was showing while I was there and another lady and I were both struck by it. When the preview was over, the lady turned to me and said, 'Wow!". I found the 1 copy the store had and offered it to the other lady, but she said she'd wait until another time. I'm glad she did because I rented it and LOVED it. I loved that it was PG too.

Great blog, btw! I can't remember where I found it, but I can't wait to try out some of your ideas. Have a great day!

I loved the trailers and Netflixed the movie last week, while I would say that I liked it...it didn't "grab" me like Pride & Prejudice or Romeo & Juliet did. The story is tragic; but I think the trailers gave me the impression that Fanny would be much more of a triumphant heroine.

I do agree 100% with you though, the set, costumes, color, etc were Outstanding.
