THANKS!

Read My Lips, uh, I mean books...

05 November 2009

The other day my friend Maria told me about the sale that our local library has twice a year! YEAH!  I went.... I am telling you it is dangerous!  I might have gotten a little carried away, but at about 50 cents to 1 dollar, I couldn't help it.  And when Etta ruins the pages, I won't be out that much.  I am psyched about adding them to our library!

**Next time I am taking cash ONLY, a list of good books that I want and having Justin babysit!  Oh, and Maria of course, I will definitely need her, because she found some books that I have really wanted, and knows what books are good!  Thanks Maria!

Tell me, what are your favorite books?  What are your favorite children's books?  Do you even like books?

Yay! That pile of books just makes me drool. You got some great ones!

I'll second the Kevin Henkes recommendation - my favorite by him is Chrysanthemum. They're all great. Other favorite picture book authors are Mem Fox, Mo Willems (only for those with a sense of humor!), Jane Yolen (the Dinosaur ones), Sandra Boynton (board books), and of course Dr. Seuss . . . and for myself I adore The Quiltmaker's Gift by Brumbeau . . . it's a feast of color!

For early readers, I love Arnold Lobel (especially the Mouse and Frog and Toad ones), the Fox books by Marshall, the Dragon books by Pilkey, Amelia Bedelia by Parish, and the Harold and the Purple Crayon books.

Early chapter books . . . Junie B. Jones, Magic Treehouse, Encyclopedia Brown, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona . . .

Wow, this could go on for a while. Honestly, one of the best suggestions I can make is to go to www.Sonlight.com and order their catalog, just to use as a reading list resource. They have some of the BEST books recommended!
