Our door is always open...
10 May 2008
We love to look at it now.
We painted the door and door casing.
Also that same day, I literally scrubbed about a million stain splatters
(from a previous owner) off of half of our siding.
It was chocolate brown stain on light grey siding! No so pretty!
It took a lot of time, but now it feels like we have new siding.
Justin installed a new front porch light
(among other things i.e. the house number, kick plate, and shutters
I installed the new handle and dead bolt).
Luckily the side door is identical, besides the added doggie door.
The light is also the same as what used to be next to our front door.
The side door will be one of our next projects, we are also adding a screen door,
so I can open it up to get some extra air and light.

Ooo La La! Gorgeous! (I think it's fitting that your pet peeve has to do with decorating) -of course it couldn't be mine b/c I never change anything-it's so bad I know. I just keep waiting for the next house . . . :) Love ya!
I love the door and the new light! It looks so nice.
Looks Great I love the House numbers on the door!
this looks terrific. i love the contrast between the door and the house numbers!
Great JOb...I have a funny door story. When my hubby was on business trip, I ripped out the old door, retiled the front entrance and then waited for our new door to come in. I was assured it would be afit. BUT the threshold width was different AND I was supposed to order a unit with a threshold. Ummm...I didnt and although it LOOKS good and gets good reveiws from neighbors, we had to grind out cutouts for the hinges and now it gets too breezy in our "breezeway". Usually my projects work out much better. But the door is a bit of a sore subject. Should have not depended on an employee at the homestore I went to...he just wanted the sale.
thnaks for the fun and ideas.

Very nice, nice bold color! Great job.
Looks SOOO great! (love the house #) I have had a "plan" to paint our front door for MONTHS now. I've already bought the paint and a vinyl "welcome" sign...I'm afraid I'll make a horrible mess of our door. Thanks for some much needed motivation & inspiration!
I love to look at it too!
I wish I could do something like that for my front door (rental)!
I guess I'll just have to come back here and look at yours!
Thanks for sharing with me!

oh, that looks gorgeous! i love the kick plate! we have double doors in front that are so worn, and we keep meaning to paint them! the guy at the hardware store says the paint or stain i get depends on the type of wood it is; any idea how to figure that out?? :)
It looks wonderful! I love the paint color, and the new light fixture is a huge improvement. Great job!
I big difference, and the numbers are so cute!

This is one of my projects for my own home this spring. Our door is the original wood(and very heavy) with most of it being see through glass. But Im realizing that from weathering damage its going to need painting and my porch definitely needs some lovin. As you said, its amazing what some simple touches can do!Looks great!
