Beautiful Open Staircase Reveal
We finished the floors two days before Easter.
Oh yeah - down to the wire and stressing out about having a floor to walk on for all the people coming to the house for Easter.
That's how we roll....
Just to give perspective, here are a few before pictures.
The dining room looking into the entry hall and the sitting room beyond.
The other side of the wall. The sitting room looking into entry hall.
Nice and open now....
The stairs are rebuilt (here, here and here the dreaded floor is being installed.
And FINALLY....drum roll please.....
AFTER!!
The stairs - looking in the front door.
And Baxter Boy makes an appearance....the dogs were never far from theconstruction.
The sitting room looking into the entry hall and dining room. Notice the lack of wall - ha!
And Chauncey - the wonder dog.
Dining room looking into the entry hall and sitting room
Dining room looking through the pocket doors into the family room.
The sitting room.
I still need to finish the furniture, change the light fixture and hang pictures.
The little green chair belonged to my great-great Aunt Pearl. Love it.
I love how cozy this room is at night.....
The entry hall. Still need a little table for under the mirror.
So, there you have it. Whew!
Now I have a lot of furniture to refinish.
Which is good because Brian told me that if I start another project, he's sooooo outta here.
I'll give him until the fall before I start something else - ha!
This absolutely took my breath away! If you loved this too, you'll also love these!

Thanks so much everyone! I wish I'd had the chance to get the new front door installed because then it would look even better :)
Kimberly - I will look up the paint colors when I get home :)
wow - looks great - what a lot of work! you might consider the idea of a floating shelf under the mirror in the hall - just a thought
Stammpernancy:
We are building a modified version of a console table from plans by Ana White. The floating shelf just looked too .... floaty. Great minds think alike!
What is the purple color on the wall in the room with the little green chair in it? Your stairs and all your hard work have created just gorgeous rooms!
Kimmy - Thank you!! I LOVE this room and spend a lot of time reading there. I have a bit more furniture now so it's comfy :) The purple is Elderberry by Martha Stewart, color matched to Behr eggshell.
Kimberly, the gray is Road Runner by Behr. It's a lovely, soft gray :)
