Black and Decker Rapid Roller Review and Giveaway!

21 June 2011

This Giveaway is Now Closed!

My sweet little Lydia is now 4 months old...
(your welcome!)

Busy mother that I am, I am just now starting to decorate her room.  I had a different plan about switching the girls rooms at first but Lydia had a different plan.  She would only sleep on her tummy- so bassinettes were out.  I was having panic attacks every night with worry about her not being on her back, and finally in the end just bought another crib of her own so there would be plenty of clear space- no bumpers and fans on at all times.

About 2 weeks after she was born, we moved around about every piece of furniture that we own to make it all work, and that was about as far as it got.  BUT finally Lydia's room is painted... she won't remember the first 4 months of randomness... right? (Let's be honest, I'm really not concerned even if she does, she is loved and wanted, that is what counts- not wall colors!)

Anywho, for this project, I got to try out Black and Decker's Rapid Roller.  It made super quick work of this project!! Thank Heaven!!  Time savers are essential because with two girls under 2 (and running this blog) I really don't have a lot of extra time.

Before most of the furniture moved to center of room:

Opening up the box. WOW!

Cutting in.  So according to some pictures I have seen of this product, you might be able to avoid cutting in if you use painters tape, BUT I hate painters tape- I never use it.  A good quality (like Purdy) angled 1 1/2 inch brush is all you need.

Justin felt like he should take a picture of me using it... yikes.  I should start putting makeup on when I work on projects... and maybe brush my hair, maybe.

I had to show this image(below), so you can see how the head pivots in different ways. COOL feature!

It also had this cool stand, which reminds me of a bike... don't know why I just mentioned that.

The color is off in this picture, it was 12:00 pm at night... and I really have poor camera skills!

The next day, I did a little decorative painting which I LOVE.  I wasn't quite sure if it would work but I am super happy with it.  I will show you more pictures soon as I actually finish the room.  And more of the process.
Paint color: Martha Stewart Lagoon MSL125

But for now...

Do you all need a new tool? ( I know how you feel!)

I "liked" the black and decker facebook page. I would absolutely LOVE this roller. We just bought (we're actually signing on it tomorrow!!!)an old 1907 Sear's Home. So there's obviously a ton of painting to do. I also love your blog, in fact I have several of your projects favorited on my computer so that I can find them once we move into the new house! Keep up the good work!

Tucson Mom June 22, 2011 at 12:04 PM

I would like to tackle 3 bedrooms but that will necessitate another few areas of the house so I think there will be more projects!

Unknown June 22, 2011 at 12:06 PM

I could totally use this to paint the office, master bedroom and kitchen. Oh, and one of the walls in the family room that we haven't gotten to yet. Also, the ceiling in a couple rooms haven't been painted yet as well. Basically we need to paint our house and this would be super helpful! :)

Kristen June 22, 2011 at 12:44 PM

I would update the paint job in my house because now that my kids are in preschool my walls have become their mural. My house is like the book Harold and the Purple crayon

Eric and Celeste June 22, 2011 at 1:26 PM

Well, we just moved into our first home and E.V.E.R.Y. wall, door, doorway, molding, and ceiling is painted the same exact drab depressing gray. I would use this in a heartbeat to bring some light and life to my home.

Unknown June 26, 2011 at 5:06 PM

I could use that right now to paint my son's room, but since I need to do it like yesterday.. If I win I will use it to paint every room, minus his room. This house is stuck in the 70's and I hate it lol!

Christine @ First Home...Love Life June 26, 2011 at 5:55 PM

WE NEED TO PAINT THE ENTIRE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR OF OUR NEW HOME, AND THIS WOULD SAVE OODLES OF TIME FOR OTHER PROJECTS!!! PLEASE PICK ME ME ME!!! <333

Lynette June 26, 2011 at 6:28 PM

Wow that looks fantastic! My youngest single daughter just bought her first home. I just got to see it this week. It was built in 1908 and it looks to me like no one has touched it since. She needs EVERYTHING and there's only her to do it (12 hrs. from me). This would be such an amazing blessing in helping her make her home livable and even adorable. Thank you for a chance to win this for her and I love what you are doing with the room.

I would use this tool for painting the home my husband and I are currently trying to buy. It is a 1940s home that needs a lot of work, and this tool would be awesome for the job. Whether or not I win one, I will likely look into it as it looks like it will make things so much easier!

Thanks for the opportunity to win this awesome tool.

Hello You June 27, 2011 at 10:21 AM

I am repainting the living room which has vaulted ceilings. I will have to put my paint roller on a stick while using a ladder to reach the higher up spots. This Rapid Roller would make this process a whole lot easier as I wouldn't have to get up and down from the ladder to dip the roller in the paint and I could reach the tops of the ceiling much easier.
